Why Market Cafe?

Using our Green Room as a community space to promote wellbeing for all in a quiet, shared place where it’s o.k. not to be o.k. It’s a place where people can come and rest, meet new and old friends, have a hot drink with cake and biscuits and find local information and advice signposting.
In addition, the energy crisis presents an opportunity to open our doors and provide a warm welcome in response to the energy crisis, for those struggling to heat their home this winter.

Citizens Advice anticipate that 1 in 4 people simply won’t be able to afford their new energy bills this October. Experts have warned we could see an increase in excess deaths this winter. Community organisations and churches across the UK have already seen a soar in demand for their services and anticipate this number to further rise over the winter months, with many people expected to look for our support for the first time. We are using the national ‘Warm Welcome Spaces’ campaign as a direct practical response to the crisis.
