David Lucas

Deacon

I was born in West Yorkshire, grew up in Stoke-on-Trent and I have lived in South Wales since 2004. I moved to Wales when I was 18 through my involvement with a Christian youth ministry. I worked voluntarily then enrolled on a Youth and Community Studies with Applied Theology degree course in 2007 which brought me to Neath Elim. As part of the course I worked in the youth and children’s departments of the church including carrying out school’s work by taking whole school assemblies. Since the completion of the course I have continued to work in various departments in the church. I currently work for a local charity.

I have been a deacon in the church since 2014. My desire is that the church continues to serve the community and that the church in Neath grows as one body to build the kingdom of God, demonstrating the love of God in a real way that impacts the town. I have a particular interest in preaching and evangelism which has led me to speak regularly in churches in the Neath and Swansea area.

I am married to Sarah and have been for 8 years. We are both involved in the youth and worship team ministries as well as leading one of the church small groups. We have a wonderful son who enjoys going to church and asks most mornings “Are we going to church today?” I am grateful for the wonderful children’s ministry in the church who are serving the future disciples of Christ.

As a family we have a heart for our church family and we are excited about the things that God is doing through our obedience.
