Pastor Ian shares the first word for 2020, titled ‘Back To Our Futures’. Reading from Luke 9:51-62.
God has a lot to say about our future.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 ESV
We are all in a spiritual battle. Right now as a people, we are in the midst of it.
Satan’s tactics have always been the same, his stated manifesto is to steal, kill and destroy. You cannot entertain or court him, he is not your friend.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
John 10:10 ESV
In the natural dock leaves grow alongside nettles. So too in the spiritual, where ever satan is at work, you will find God is at work against him and his kingdom.
We need to understand however, that God’s working is not dictated by where satan goes first, rather God goes ahead and satan comes in behind based on where he sees evidence of God at work.
Whilst the Holy Spirit is the seal of God in Us. If the believer has a marker that draws satan’s attention it is this, Christ the hope of glory living in us in the person of the Holy Spirit.
Satan always follows after God. He may come to steal, kill and destroy but God comes that …we may have life and have it abundantly in all its fullness.
Here is the antidote to satan’s schemes and plans. We have been given life, and to live it abundantly.
Satan has a number of old tried and tested schemes that he uses against the believer things like doubt, did God really say?
Feelings of guilt & shame, believing a lie…but there is a tactic of satan that the Holy Spirit wants to expose in order to bring release and restoration.
Satan’s tactic is trying to take us back to a place we have already been redeemed from.
If he can make you believe that you’re the only one going through it, that no one else understands, that your situation is totally unique. if he can isolate you, you become easy prey.
God is wanting to birth something in his Church, he is pouring Himself into us. We are all a part of His plan for his Church.
You are a part of his purpose and his vision!
Satan does not like it and is desperately trying to abort God’s plan coming to birth in us..
You might think that you are on your own but you are not!!
Satan has many tactics, but the same one has been used over and over again. Divide and conquer.
Some of your plans have been aborted, you have felt spiritually paralysed. But God wants to bring you back on course for the destiny he has for you. he wants to get us back to our futures.
God through our trust in Jesus and the Holy Spirit living in us, wants to take us back to our futures. A Place of redemption, release, healing, forgiveness, restoration and renewal.
Today God wants to do a reset, so we can get back to our futures individually & corporately
We pray that you won’t look back, but look forward and upward! God has so much more in store for you. Don’t allow Satan to rob you and take you back to a place where you have already been redeemed from. Be free and be released back into God’s purpose and destiny for your life.
