Reading from Jonah 4:1-11

Jonah is a famous story, perhaps you know it from Sunday School!

However, there is so much to learn from the account, not just the part about the Big Fish.
In chapter 4, Jonah is angry that God is merciful to the Ninevites; he wants to see them destroyed! He sits outside the city under a booth he has made himself, waiting to see what would become of the city.

God loves Jonah, even though he is angry, and makes a plant rise over Jonah. This God-provided covering satisfies Jonah’s soul; something his own hands could not do.
God covers us today with grace and mercy that satisfies our soul.

It is an eternal covering that given through the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed for us on the cross.

In this sermon, David looks at what this means for all of us today, whether we are a Christian or not, and how we can know God’s covering over our lives, even if we feel distant from Him.
