David Lucas shares the second message in this series for Christmas, titled ‘Heart Songs For Christmas’.
Reading from Luke 2:8-21.
The Glory of the Lord, is heard about here in this text. It is for the whole world.
The immediate reactions of the Shepherds was fear. There is a natural fear & a Godly fear.
The Godly fear is the recognition is we recognise we are sinners before him.
We are reminded in Isaiah, hundreds of years before, Christ’s birth was prophesied..
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6 ESV
The Shepherds were instructed to follow a sign. It was not common to find a baby, but this one would be wrapped in swaddling clothes and born in a manger.
No nation or peace can guarantee peace other Jesus. Why? Because he IS peace.
Isaiah had foretold this labelling him the Prince of Peace.
We not may see peace throughout the whole world, however Jesus brings us peace.
There is life and peace for those that live and walk with Jesus.
The world can not offer us peace, only Jesus can.
Wherever we are, let us know the revenue of God’s peace.
Like the Shepherds, let us have a similar reaction after meeting Jesus, that we glorify and praise God.
“And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth. And he shall be their peace.”
Micah 5:4-5 ESV
We pray that you will find peace today. Peace in your mind and in your heart. We pray that you would recognise that God is your Shepherd and he longs to protect you from all things that would harm you.
