Jim O’Brien shares the third word from this new series. Reading continues from Ephesians 1:3-14.
We are looking at the fact that we are chosen.
We make promises that we do not keep. We are mastered by our self interest.
Sin has become our master.
Today at this point in time, we are a either a slave to sin or free in God.
We think we can hide our sin and walk away but we are still bound by the sin.
Someone has to pay, the gift of God is life.
What is the cost of redemption?!
We all can die spiritually…
“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,”
Colossians 2:13 NIV
Your spirit is dead, if it doesn’t recognise that it needs help.
Our hearts have become seared, as if it cannot feel again.
If you hear his voice, God says “Harden not your hearts.”
Know that his mercies are new every morning.
If you think that swapping our sin for his grace and redemption is a fair deal, then we have it wrong.
If you are a Christian, but continue to say “No” to God, our hears will become hard.
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Galatians 5:1 NIV
We make a choice to make, do we continually keep sinning or do we seek his forgiveness and know him.
Only we can make the choice, nobody else.
This is not a change like a New Years resolution but a chance for our soul to be set free.
Daily we have that choice. Who do we live for?
We pray that you would walk and know his freedom. That you seek God’s forgiveness that you can walk right with him.
