Matthew 9:1-8

Jesus saw their faith. What does our measure of faith look like right now?

We have saving faith but at times we require a different type of faith. Fear is counterfeit to faith. I wonder what would it look like for us to respond in faith not fear.

When we go on holiday we have to visit Bureau De Change to change our sterling into the currency of the country we are planning to visit because without it there can be no transactions. Change the currency and we can have a transaction.

We trade with heaven in a currency called faith and without it there can be no transaction between heaven and earth.

Romans 12:3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

Mark 4:40 after calming a storm on the sea of Galilee He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?”

Matthew 6:30 Delivering His sermon on the mount, Jesus telling the people not to be anxious for anything say: ‘But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?’ Little Faith? – Jesus is saying faith is measurable

Matthew 8:10 When Jesus heard this, he marvelled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such (great) faith. Great faith – What would people who have great faith do in times like this. (George Muller)

While everything has changed nothing’s changed.

Acts 6:5 When the apostles were looking for people to help serve the wider body in daily duties ‘And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit,…’ Full Faith

Who determines our measure of faith for the time we are in?

The moment we got saved we have all of God but the question is about God having more or all of us.

Matthew 9:2 Just Enough faith – notice it doesn’t quantify their faith. It is not about the amount but about what you do with the measure that God has given you.

Faith doesn’t stay unless we want it to. We reach a moment when it begins to be overflow.

Blessing never really looks like we think it will, often blessing is messy.

The only people who criticise are those who do not exercise just enough faith.

All of us want to say life changing words but first we have to hear life changing words

Hebrews 4:2 ‘For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.’ it’s about the life of God coming into us

Hebrew 4:6 ‘Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience,’

In v.2 It says they didn’t enter because of faith, then here in v.6 it says they didn’t enter because of disobedience so which is it?

It’s two sides of the same coin, if we try to evaluate our faith we’ll never do anything because we will always fall short believing that we don’t have enough.

We cannot put any value on whatever level of faith we do or do not have. The only question is what does He want us to do? Because we can always obey.
